Back to Nature – The farm is home to Australian native flora and fauna, allowing visitors to see a variety of birds and other animals during their stay. The farm which is currently home to cattle, sheep, goats & hens. The animals on Hebron Farm are there to live a peaceful life grazing on the property. It is a place where visitors can harvest from the house veggie garden & market garden, fruit orchard, or fish straight out of the Colo River direct from the property.
“We stayed at Hebron Farm to celebrate my Nan’s 80th birthday, the space was perfect for what we needed and the kids loved spending time with the baby goats.” – Rachel
Hebron Farm is home to an abundance of native flora and fauna. There is a resident wallaby family and the best time to see them grazing is during the misty dawn or as the sun sets over the property at dusk. If you are very lucky you may spot a wombat or bilby, and if you look up perhaps a koala or two.
Many species of birds call Hebron Farm home. We see kookaburras, cockatoos, galahs, rosellas, wedge-tail eagles, gang gangs, bell birds and many more. An amazing chorus of birdsong welcomes the sun each morning on the property.
The Colo River is home to a variety of fish for keen anglers. World-famous Colo River perch, flathead, bream, and mullet can be caught by those choosing to drop a fishing line into the water. Swimming in the river is a must in the warmer weather, and this can be done directly from the property at “the beach” or the boat ramp.
The property is dotted with native trees and we are working hard to reintroduce more to the farm. There are gums, eucalypts, white cedar trees – that are all native to Lower Portland. We have also planted a variety of fruit trees and vegetables, and plan to harvest, eat, juice, and preserve the produce that we grow on the farm.
